About Me
My résumé combines components of writing, teaching, music, and entertainment.
I grew up in Montoursville, Pennsylvania and received my BA in Music from Indiana University of
Pennsylvania. Following graduation, I moved to Florida, where I began a career with the Walt Disney
World Company. I held a variety of positions during my fourteen years at Disney, but what I enjoyed most
of all was my time as an entertainer performing in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot Center. In 1994 I earned
an MA in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida and began a teaching career that has
included classroom, resource, and support positions in Orlando, Florida; Raleigh, North Carolina; and
Chicago, Illinois. I currently teach English and chorus at a private PreK-12 school on the beautiful island of
Kaua'i, Hawai'i.

I am a member of the National Association for Music Education, the American
Choral Directors Association, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, and the Society of
Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. My first book, Quotation Quizzlers, is a
tricky collection of brainteasers based on the inspiring words of famous figures from
history. My second title, Vocabulary Ladders, uses a puzzle approach to building
vocabulary and was published by Prufrock Press in 2006. I’m currently completing a
number of other exciting book projects, including The Peace Alphabet, Big Losers,
and The Little Village. I make my home in Kapa'a, Hawai'i, where I teach chorus,
piano, music appreciation, and other music courses to students in grades 4-12 at
Island School in Lihu'e.
